Overview

This qualification outlines the basic knowledge and practical skills for providing emergency first aid when certain special hazards are identified. Learners will practise managing an incident and demonstrate how to treat specific conditions.
Course content
- Catastrophic bleeding recognition and management
- Crush injuries recognition and management
- Extremes of body temperature recognition and management (hypo and hyperthermia)
- Lyme disease recognition and management
- Adder snake bites recognition and management
Assessment Method
The course is assessed be the trainer throughout the training delivery of learner understanding.The course will include practical and theoretical papers

This qualification is for people who hold or intend to complete an Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work qualification who may deal with special hazards in an emergency situation within a forestry/agricultural context.

Note: Those working in core operations on Forestry Commission land will require an appropriate and valid First Aid in Forestry certificate or Forestry First Aid qualification to address specific risks associated with forestry and agricultural environments.

This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The training venue should be quiet and undisturbed. Staff should not be expected to be on duty. Staff attending should remain for the entire length of the session.
